Brigette Romanek formed her Los Angeles design practice in 2018, and in just a few short years, she has racked up numerous accolades and high-profile clients. Recognized on Architectural Digest’s AD100 list and Elle Decor’s A-List, Romanek recently completed ballerina Misty Copeland’s New York City home, which was featured on the cover of AD in 2020. Other clients include Kelly Rowland and Gwyneth Paltrow.

Design Tips
High Function
For Romanek, a kitchen should be beautiful, but also usable. She selected Gagganeu appliances, Caesarstone countertops, and other features that work just as well as they look. "I like to cook a lot, so my range can be pretty, but it has to function well," she says. "I wanted it to feel like a space where they could enjoy themselves, not be too worried about appliances or things that will cause them any issue."
Do-It-All Island
The kitchen island is the workhorse at the center of it all. It conspicuously houses the cooktop, the dishwasher, and other essentials, which are hidden behind panels of wood so as not to detract from the design of the space.
Beautiful Tools
Open shelves display a mix of everyday dishware, cooking utensils, and decorative pieces—"items that are simple, clean, but also fantastic and very usable," Romanek says—creating an eye-catching vignette above the countertop.
